Huiling Site visit

Rotaract Beijing is currently working on expanding its community service work, with a focus on education to provide support to people with disabilities.

As its first community service activity since its launch, Rotaract Beijing will be visiting Huiling Community Service Organization on Sunday 16th August.

Huiling Community Service Organization is a community-based, non-profit, non-government organisation (NGO) that works to improve the quality of life of people with learning disabilities through workshops aimed at facilitating independence and improving life skills. These include arts and crafts activities, music, sports and life skills. The organization arranges field trips for its participants to connect them to their communities. It also provides professional training and care options. The Beijing branch is one of 10 throughout China.

Rotaract Beijing plans to set up a project to support Huiling Community Service Organization, which may involve volunteering, fundraising and/ or professional training for employees. This site visit will be a chance to get a feel of how Rotaract can contribute, not to mention to get out into the local community and volunteer.

The visit will involve a presentation about Huiling followed by group volunteer activities like bracelet and card making, as well as painting. Over lunch the participants of Huiling will give a performance for the visitors. The day will end with a question and answer session with the organization’s staff.

Time: 9:30 a.m.- 2p.m.

Cost: 30 RMB (to cover lunch and the performance)
