International connections: Rotaract Club of Uttarpara
As an International Rotaract Club, one of our responsibilities is to reach out to other Rotaract Clubs around the world. We have recently came into contact with Mainak Bhattacharjee, the Cluster Secretary of the Rotary International District 3291. He also is the editor of the monthly bulletin of the Rotaract Club of Uttarpara.
You can read more about their action at their blog: http://rcuttarpara.blogspot.com/
Unfortunately for us in China, accessing Blogspot these days isn’t the easiest thing to do, but there is still good content.
As part of our effort to showcase what the Rotaract Club of Uttarpara is up to, we have attached their the September issue of their newsletter called FLAiR: here. It turns out that they are a very active club.
The newsletter highlights their activities for the months of July and August, including a couple of visits at homes for the mentally challenged, as well as a locality for underprivileged children. They also organized a long event for the Indian Independence Day: they visited and brought gifts to 2 different organizations, one a Vagrants home for women and one a home for the underprivileged. They gave a radio to the home for women and distributed shoes to the home for the underprivileged.
They have also sent us a report that they put together in the public interest about global warming. You can get it here.
Mainak has also sent me some backgrounds that you can download if you are interested:
